The attrition levels are very high among the BPO companies and is a serious concern for any organization that intends to scale up the operations. This is accelerated further by the spurt in demand for professionals because of the large number of new players diversifying into the BPO industry. Containing attrition at reasonable levels has been a growing concern for the HR functions of BPOs. One of the ways chosen for reducing attrition is by creating a bond among the employees. This is seen as better alternative than monetary rewards and programs as people value relationships more than money.
Building a community that engages employees continuously helps build a bond among the employees. There are several ways of engaging people, one of the recent thoughts has been building an intra-enterprise Orkut, a social-networking software that allows employees to interact with each other. IBM has recently come up with a product of this nature called "Connections". This is regarded as a solution that keeps the employees engaged in their free times and provides the opportunity for monitoring them instead of allowing the employees using third party Instant messaging & networking tools over which the organization no control.
Another way to tackle the problems caused by attrition is by having an efficient recruitment management system. An automated recruitment system will help in reducing the cycle time.
