Installing and Configuring Lotus Domino servers, Notes clients
Maarga Systems would provide the support from its offshore center in Chennai, India. Maarga will access your network through a secure VPN tunnel and will work on Domino Administrator to provide support for the servers. Our Domino Assurance plan provides for proactive and as needed support for you and offers:
- Routine Maintenance on Server.
- Response to special admin requests as needed
Routine Administation Tasks:
Maarga Systems proposes to perform the following regular tasks (as recommended by IBM) for maintaining the Domino servers in good shape:
- Daily:
- Check status of Domino servers.
- Ensure all domino servers are responding (ideally need third party tools, or open source monitoring tools like Nagios configured to send a page to system administrator)
- Check status of Domino server tasks (like router, replica, HTTP etc.) for availability.
- Check Domino log databases for error messages that may indicate database corruption, unexpected outages or unauthorized access attempts.
- Ensure replication of critical Domino system databases and application databases has completed successfully.
- Confirm mail is routing correctly by checking the mail boxes on each server for dead and pending mail.
- Check Domino directory for replication conflicts.
- Ensure backups on all Domino servers have completed successfully overnight (or as per defined backup procedures).
- Register new users.
- Perform name changes and modificaitons.
- Act on termination requests.
- Move mail files.
- Weekly:
- Ensure adequate disk space on Domino servers.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks (ensure updall, fixup and compact have run).
- Prepare weekly reports on admin tasks and server health.
- Monthly:
- Shut down all Domino servers and run routine maintenance tasks on critical system databases that are normally open at all times (running updall, fixup and compact on the Domino directory, log database, mail boxes, statistics and reporting database)
- Review, update and modify system documentation as appropriate.
Server Administration Requests:
Besides the regular proactive maintenance tasks, Maarga would also act on the support requests assigned to it and pertaining to Domino Server administration. Such support requests might concern spam software, configuration of Notes clients or such issues.
Communication:
Maarga Administrators can be available 24x7 to handle urgent support requirements. Less urgent requirements would be handled (i.e. work initiated) within 1 business day. Maarga would make available to you a dedicated support phone number which will connect to Maarga's offshore center directly. The Maarga support desk can be accessed through our web/Notes based help desk sytem, Instant Messaging, VOIP Phone or Phone. Maarga would work with your team (and perform fire-drills etc.) to ensure smooth communication in the event of an urgent requirement.
