Representation vs. Sub-contracting

Offshore outsourcing is big on your customers' minds. By all accounts the business model of sending part of software development, administration work offshore seems to have been accepted into mainstream businesses in US, Europe and Asia. This might be a phenomenal opportunity for you to ride on a high growth market, by leveraging your onsite presence and proximity to customers and Maarga's offshore delivery capabilities. The representation model would imply that you will sell Maarga's services in your local market, while the subcontracting model would imply that you would take business under your banner and offshore part of it to Maarga. Mindless of the model you choose, we are here to provide you with all the pre-sales and execution support to make the most of the emerging business opportunities.

We have addressed this extensively in a Redbook written exclusively for partners like you. You can read the readbook here, or can request a copy by sending a mail to info@maargasystems.com

Common Questions Answered

Working with an offshore vendor poses the standard questions:

  1. How do I protect my clientele?
  2. What kind of quality can I expect?
  3. How do we represent this relationship to the customer?
  4. How will you manage this remote interaction?
  1. How do I protect my clientele?
We respect client integrity and enter into reasonable Non Compete, Non Disclosure agreements right at the beginning of the relationship. From our perspective, we feel the synergies in collaborating with a locally based Lotus partner adds substantial value to the engagement, and we work to ensure it works for our local partner as well.

  2. What kind of quality can I expect?
The highest. Offshore software development is typically a more rigorous exercise than the onsite variant. Beset with problems caused by lack of face to face contact, offshore software vendors typically document better, and follow stricter quality processes. You need not take our words for granted, we can give you references you can speak to.

  3. How do we represent this relationship to the customer?
Mindless of our engagement model, we seek to present a unified face to the customer. This implies working out details of responsibility early in the relationship, deciding on the brand to go the customer with, and handling operational/logistics issues arising with a multi-organization team. It is your choice .. we can be a purely "in the background" subcontractor, or can take a more active role in client interactions.

  4. How will you manage this remote interaction?
80% of our work gets done on a remote basis. This has shaped our remote collaboration capbilities significantly. We use web based technology to create shared workspaces, to conduct online meetings and engage with the customers constantly to remove the feeling of distance.
